Come and join me for this fun and liberating mixed-media class.
What is Mixed-Media? It's a process of using different bases, layering with random colors and marks and even collaging with ephemera (items of collectable memorabilia usually written or printed), in other words pretty papers and objects.
Layering is the key here, that's what gives us the colorful dimension we look for in a Mixed-media piece.
It's fun, it's freeing, it helps you connect with your beautiful creative spirit because there are no rules! Anything goes!!!
What if I can't draw or don't have a favorite word or quote?
We will be working on a 6x6 wood panel and using acrylic paints. The thing about acrylics is they're so forgiving. You don't like what you put there? Paint over it! Then we'll collage a bit so if you have a favorite picture or quote, bring it and we'll make a pretty thing for you to have or to gift to someone you love.
There are no rules in mixed-media other than you are required to express yourself fully and have fun doing it.
No worries! I will admit to you that I'm not good at drawing either! So, we won't draw! (Unless of course that's your jam). I'll have print outs for you to cut out and add to your panel (this is how I create my pieces). If there is something you just love (like a favorite flower or animal) you can print it out and bring it along (remember our 6X6 board)
I'll also have quotes and single words for you to cut out and use on your art . If there is something special you want, print it out and bring it or just let me know and I'll take care of it for you. And if you have no idea at all what you will create, even better! Let's just be in the flow and see what surfaces.
You don't need a special talent to create a mixed-media piece. It's a simple process of layering in your favorite colors and adding marks to add interest.
It's the perfect path to look and feel like an artist without any professional training.

You've never tried mixed media? Well that's why I'm here. I'll be available to help you every step of the way and to offer suggestions and answer your questions. It's way easier than you think and so much fun.
All supplies are furnished for you, unless of course you have something special you want to add to your piece and you bring it along.
This is such a fun and easy process and I will be there to cheer you on, support you, offer guidance or suggestions if you need and celebrate you as you connect with your beautiful creative spirit.
